Have you ever met someone and thought to yourself “How did I not know this person before? We’re kindred spirits!” That’s exactly how I feel about Jess, the founder of Scratch Mommy. A couple of months ago I was introduced to Jess and her husband Nick by Karen (the Scratch Mommy Parenting Editor). How had I not known about Jess and Scratch Mommy before? Well clearly I was an idiot and wasted over a year of basking in Scratch Mommy greatness… don’t worry, I’m catching up one post at a time.

I was ecstatic, when Jess and Nick told me during a Google Hangout that they liked my style on my blog Sew Creative and wanted me to join the Scratch Mommy team as the DIY editor and “social media maven.”

Not only was I excited that I’d get the chance to work with Jess, Nick, Loriel and Karen to launch the new site but  also because I knew it would open a door to meet many wonderful, talented, smart creative women who are living life from scratch.

Today I’m introducing you to 4 of these women, one half of my DIY Contributors all-star team (don’t worry, you’ll get the chance to meet the rest of them on Sunday). As a team, we can’t wait to bring you the best DIY projects– whether you are new to DIY or have been Doing It Yourself for years. We’ll walk you through the basics (like what tools you need to get started making skincare from scratch) to the more complicated (how to hunt for great vintage furniture at the thrift shop and then restore it yourself). I can’t wait to learn from these ladies and see all of the great projects that we inspire from our readers!

Let me introduce you to our DIY Gals!

What does living a DIY life from scratch mean to you? Living a DIY life from scratch with my family helps us maintain a more natural lifestyle. Making my own cleaners and personal care products keeps our household safe and healthy for us, and also helps us save money. By incorporating DIY projects into our daily lives, we’re often reusing items that would normally be thrown away. It inspires our kids to live sustainably, and also creates memories that we’ll treasure forever!
