Do you give handmade gifts for the holidays?
It’s getting closer and closer to the holidays and that means it’s time to start crafting handmade gifts! Those of us with girls in our lives know just how quickly hair accessories can pile up! If you don’t stay organized they can get out of control and end up spread all over the house. There are many ways to organize hair accessories – in boxes and bins, at the bottom of drawers, piled high on a shelf in the bathroom closet ready to topple at any moment when you reach in to grab a towel… Do I sound like I’m speaking from experience?
The younger the girl, the harder it is for them to find their favorite hair accessory on their own, and the bigger the mess as they dig through the pile to find the perfect bow or barrette. Last fall, I realized that everything could be controlled and displayed nicely in my daughter’s room by creating a wall frame to hang and organize all of her hair accessories.
The base of this project is a wooden picture frame (I snagged mine at a yard sale on the cheap). Add some paint, ribbon, and hooks to create colorful and fun handmade hair accessories wall frames. I made this fun DIY gift for my daughter and my two nieces for Christmas last year!
Giving handmade gifts allows you to create unique presents that suit individual personalities and are heartfelt and priceless. Bonus – Not only do they serve their purpose of organizing and displaying hair accessories — making it easy to find exactly what you are looking for — the frame also has hooks along the bottom doubling as a jewelry organizer! It’s also a nice way to create a personalized piece of handmade art for the bedroom (or bathroom) wall.
This is the perfect handmade gift project for someone new to DIY; it’s easy and inexpensive but leaves you with a gift your young recipient will cherish.
