Photos are one of my favorite gifts to give and receive.

I love how you can climb into the moment that a photo was taken and relive the memory over and over again. We moved into a new house just over 2 years ago. Our moving day was 1 week before my due date with my son. We’d only unpacked a few boxes when I went into labor. After the birth we slowly continued to unpack. It wasn’t until we created a photo wall in our new house that it truly started to feel like home.

When it was finally time to put up those new photos of us as a family, money was tight (I was on maternity leave) and we didn’t have a lot of money to spend on frames and mats. So I did what any good DIY girl would do, I found an interesting way to display my photos without breaking the bank on frames. I loved the photos that I had seen that were printed on canvas, so I decided to recreate the look by mounting my own photos to canvas. A bottle of Mod Podge, some 8×12 prints and a handful of dollar store canvases later, we had a beautiful photo wall with a one of a kind look.

Friends and family soon came to visit and they loved our photos on canvas so much that I started making them as handmade gifts! Don’t tell them, but each photo only takes 15 minutes to make and costs less than $5.00… but “shhhhh” that’s our secret. They look like a million bucks!
