I was introduced to the world of “Life From Scratch” at a fairly young age. My Dad was a builder and my mom was an artist, seamstress, master chef, exceptional baker and all around DIY Queen. The house that I grew up in (where my parents still live) was made from scratch. My mom purchased the property when she was 19 years old, and several years later after she and my dad met, fell in love and married, the two of them built the house themselves, together, from the ground up. Growing up in a house that my parents had built with their own two hands was a very special experience.

My mom and dad made the decision to have my mom stay home to raise the kids while my dad worked. Because of this decision, money was often tight which made life from scratch a necessity. At the time, I never realized that we were living a DIY lifestyle because money was tight, I just thought that my parents were AMAZING and creative, making things with their own two hands. I guess it makes sense that I grew up to live a “Life From Scratch” lifestyle myself and create my DIY Blog, Sew Creative. What an amazing gift my parents gave me!

I greatly admire people who live life from scratch and am so excited to be the DIY editor at Scratch Mommy and be able to work one-on-one with such a great team. I hope that you saw the post where I introduced you to the first have of our DIY Contributor Team on Thursday (if not click through and check it out).

Today it gives me great pleasure to introduce you to the second part of our DIY Contributors Team!

What does living a DIY life from scratch mean to you? Growing up I loved to do crafts and could always be found, painting, molding or designing something. As an adult I’ve turned that creativity into something that’s not only tons of fun, but incredibly useful. Instead of buying items I can make them healthier, way cheaper and exactly how I want them.
